Farming

At 40,000 acres, our almond orchards are the largest in the world.
Bees are introduced each spring to pollinate our almond flowers. In contrast, pistachios are wind pollinated.

The arid climate and fertile soil of California's San Joaquin Valley provide perfect conditions for growing almonds and pistachios. Our goal is to improve on nature where we can and nurture our more than 70,000 acres with the best of care.

Stewardship of the environment has always been a core value of Paramount Farms. We are proud to be industry leaders in Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) and believe we have the finest and most innovative water management program in California. By carefully selecting our orchard locations and combining agricultural science with ecological responsibility, we now have the most consistently productive and sustainable large-scale orchards in the industry.

The Science of Farming
We invest millions of dollars in technology and talent to increase yields, improve quality and pioneer ecologically friendly farming practices. Our agricultural team includes experts in horticulture, entomology, soil, irrigation and plant propagation.
  • Our groundbreaking research has helped us pioneer advances in orchard management and reduce pesticide and water use.
  • At our nursery, entomological lab and tissue culture lab, we conduct long-term research projects that keep us at the cutting edge of the industry.
  • Our Geographic Information Systems capability allows us to track all field activities and monitor yield and quality information for our more than 10 million trees.
